$300,000 Workers Compensation Courier Service Employee

While working at a shipping dock, a courier delivery service employee saw that a skid full of boxes with paint containers had tipped over and scattered about.  He re-stacked 25 boxes, which weighed about 50 pounds each, then shrink wrapped them.  He developed sharp back pain and had difficulty standing up.  Claimant ultimately needed surgery for his back condition and changed to a less physically demanding career.

“This case illustrates how a work injury does not have to occur in a single traumatic event”, said claimant’s attorney Douglas Rallo.  “Illinois courts have ruled that workers compensation injuries may develop over time and as a result of repetitive activity, even briefly”.

“Fortunately, we were able to negotiate a $300,000 settlement which has enabled our client to make a fresh start”.
